Our Unique System
Kokoro Kai Jujitsu, translated as the Spirit Style of the Gentle Art, is a comprehensive Japanese based martial art that emphasizes precision and technique over size and strength. People of all ages, sizes and athletic ability can learn and use the style to protect themselves and improve their overall conditioning.
No prior experience is necessary and physical or developmental challenges should not be seen as an insurmountable obstacle. We take pride both in giving everyone on the mat a chance to learn and having the experience to know how to find a workaround for people’s personal situations.
We treat learning a martial art as a serious, but fun enterprise. We do not compete, but instead focus on teaching individualized defensive skills in a comfortable, safe environment.
Effort and determination are traits we look for in our students, and we spend a lot of time in class building focus, discipline and respect. Becoming a practitioner of the style aids in the development of balance, flexibility, coordination and strength.
We are an Anderson Center for Autism Designated Autism Supportive Environment and our staff does all they can to make class accessible for individuals, whether they can take class independently, require an aide with them in class or learn best through private lessons. We offer a free one month trial in our traditional class format and aides/parents are not billed for tuition. For private lessons or seminars, we can be very flexible in scheduling times outside of our regular class hours.
